Apart from actual treatment, general healthy habits to be followed during the healing process of exfoliative cheilitis are
Drug allergies: One should maintain a list of medicines that have caused drug allergies and totally avoid them. Drug allergies are permanent. Yoga and diet therapies can help to overcome only food allergies,not drug allergies. Try to avoid drugs like steroids, NSAIDS, and antibiotics like tetracycline, and one should be careful while using antidepressants. One should avoid overdosing fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K, and also avoid using herbs without proper advice. Avoid self-medication.
Fitness : To maintain physical and mental health, yoga and moderate exercises are useful.
Salt: One should avoid very salty, processed foods with artificial colors and preservatives.
Water : For hydration, one can drink 1.5 to 2 liters Water in a day.
Addictions: No method of treatment will work for people with drug addictions; moreover, it may have side effects. So one should overcome addictions before going for any method of treatment.
Salt: Persons with exfoliative cheilitis should avoid very salty foods. Excess salt consumption damages each and every organ of our body, including the skin. As per WHO regulations, an adult can consume less than 5 mg per day, but these days, most people are consuming 11 grams per day. EC patients should also avoid table salt and use iodized crystal salt. And they should also avoid processed foods with artificial colors and preservatives, as they may cause leaky guts, food allergies, etc
Water: 4. For hydration, EC patients can drink 1.5 to 2 liters a day. Excessive consumption of water, like 4 or 5 liters, is not required.
Addictions: 5. No method of treatment will work for people with drug addictions; moreover, it may have side effects. So people with exfoliative cheilitis should overcome addictions before going for any method of treatment.
U.V. lamps: should not be used for exfoliative cheilitis without doctors advice, as they won’t suit everyone.
